{"id":1729,"date":"2018-07-05T15:26:48","date_gmt":"2018-07-05T15:26:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.factorydata.com\/?p=1729&amp;lang=en"},"modified":"2018-07-05T15:26:48","modified_gmt":"2018-07-05T15:26:48","slug":"salesdemand-ratio-can-we-improve-our-sales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.factorydata.com\/en\/salesdemand-ratio-can-we-improve-our-sales\/","title":{"rendered":"Sales\/demand ratio, can we improve our sales?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Can we improve our sales by analyzing sales\/demand price is unbeatable, we have that sales are same than demand<\/strong>.\u00a0 Since we are not living in the perfect world, this is not the real situation.<\/h4>\n<h4>In order to find out real sales\/demand ratio for an automotive aftermarket distributor, we chose a wholesaler that sells around 10.000 pcs\/year as a case study.<\/h4>\n<h4>We monitored the wholesaler&#8217;s ecommerce website during 6 months in order to know how many times every product was demanded by customers and during the same period we also noted how many sales the wholesaler did.<\/h4>\n<h4>We identified first product missing in the wholesaler&#8217;s product catalog in the 749th position (ordering products by demand volume) and we analyzed all products that had the same demand level than this missing product on the wholesaler&#8217;s product catalog. These were the sales and demand figures:<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.factorydata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Blog_sales_demand_ratio_ENG_pic1B.png\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1740\" src=\"https:\/\/www.factorydata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Blog_sales_demand_ratio_ENG_pic1B.png\" alt=\"Blog_sales_demand_ratio_ENG_pic1B\" width=\"429\" height=\"230\" \/><\/a><u><\/u><\/p>\n<h4>Total sales for these 7 articles were 30 pieces with a <strong>17% sales\/demand ratio<\/strong>.<\/h4>\n<h4>The most surprising thing was the big differences between sales\/demand ratios, but, why?<\/h4>\n<h4>We found out four different main reason:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<h4>Article-1 had out of stocks, thus product could not always be delivered.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Article-4 was not available.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Article-6 was not manufactured with the most demanded technology by market.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Article-7 had a non-competitive sale price.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>After analyzing the causes, the wholesaler took following actions:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<h4>\u00a0Minimum stock quantity for Article-1 was raised.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Article-4 was added into stock.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Article-6 was changed for an equivalent product with the most demanded technology.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Sale price of Article-7 was reduced.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>As a result of all corrective actions taken, three months later the semestral sales projections on these 7 products raised to 57 pieces, 190% more!, with a <strong>33% sales\/demand ratio<\/strong>.<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.factorydata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Blog_sales_demand_ratio_ENG_pic2B.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1741\" src=\"https:\/\/www.factorydata.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Blog_sales_demand_ratio_ENG_pic2B.png\" alt=\"Blog_sales_demand_ratio_ENG_pic2B\" width=\"432\" height=\"231\" \/><\/a><u><\/u><\/p>\n<h4>As we see, product catalog gaps, out of stocks and non-competitive prices, cost many sales and poor customer experience, as easy as this.<\/h4>\n<h4>Unfortunately, we
